Self-Rescue Skills Class

This course is designed to give you the essential rescue techniques needed to handle unexpected situations while climbing—because, let’s face it, the more we climb, the more we realize things don’t always go as planned! 

In this class, some skills you’ll learn:

• Belay Takeovers: How to smoothly take over the belay in case your partner needs assistance, ensuring a safe transition and continued climbing.
• Pick-Offs: Techniques for safely rescuing a climber who’s stuck, injured, or unable to descend on their own, and getting them down to safety.
• Ascending: How to ascend the rope in an emergency to reach a stuck climber or gain access to a higher point for a rescue.
• Hauling: Learn the essentials of hauling a stuck climber or gear using mechanical advantage systems, so you can get them out of a tight spot or back to safety with ease.
